Meadow 4

When I was a boy I had the nickname ‘pig nut’.  It was awarded to me by a good friend who recognised that I had an uncanny ability to find the elusive pig nut – a small nut-like root of the conopodium majus. I learned how to find them as a boy scout foraging for free food in the meadows close to home. It is about sixty years since I last looked for a pig nut but I reckon I could find a few if I was hungry enough.
